Custom Domains

Custom domains let you serve your status page from your own URL — for example, status.yourcompany.com instead of statuspage.isthisthing.online/your-workspace/your-page.

Availability: Pro and Enterprise plans.

How it works

  1. You configure a custom domain in the Status Page Designer.
  2. You add a TXT record to your DNS to prove ownership.
  3. isthisthing.online verifies the DNS record.
  4. Once verified, your status page is served from your domain.

Step 1: Configure the domain

  1. Open the Status Page Designer for the page you want to customize.
  2. In the Settings tab, scroll to Custom Domain.
  3. Enter your domain (e.g., status.acme.com).
  4. Click Verify Domain.

A verification token is generated for your domain.

Step 2: Add the DNS TXT record

Go to your DNS provider (Cloudflare, Route 53, Namecheap, etc.) and add a TXT record:

FieldValue
TypeTXT
Nameisthisthingonline-verify.{your-domain}
Valueisthisthingonline-verify={token}
TTL300 (or default)

Example: If your domain is status.acme.com and your token is abc123, create a TXT record with:

  • Name: isthisthingonline-verify.status.acme.com
  • Value: isthisthingonline-verify=abc123

The token is shown in the Status Page Designer when you click Verify Domain.

Step 3: Verification

After adding the DNS record, click Verify Domain in the designer. The system checks for the TXT record.

VerifiedThe TXT record was found and your domain is ready.
FailedThe TXT record was not found. Check your DNS configuration.

Verification runs automatically in the background. You'll receive an email when verification succeeds or fails.

Step 4: Point your domain

Once verified, add a CNAME record pointing your domain to statuspage.isthisthing.online:

FieldValue
TypeCNAME
Namestatus (or your subdomain)
Valuestatuspage.isthisthing.online
TTL300 (or default)

SSL certificates are provisioned automatically after the CNAME is in place.

Removing a custom domain

Clear the custom domain field in the Status Page Designer and save. Your status page reverts to its default URL at statuspage.isthisthing.online.

Private status pages

Private status pages work the same way on a custom domain. When a visitor reaches your custom domain, they are shown the access screen (password or workspace member sign-in) before the status page content is displayed. See Status Page Designer → Privacy.
